The estimated pay for this position is $74.4586 to $91.5748. The rates shown include a 6% premium pay (base=$-$ plus 6%). This reflects only a portion of the total compensation package for this position. Additional compensation may be available for this role through differentials, incentives, and bonuses. In addition, this position may be eligible for participation and company contributions into the Kern County Employees' Retirement Plan.
Under direction and supervision, to provide educational and consultant services in the field of pharmacology and drug therapy to patients and professional staff; and to do related work as required.
This classification is distinguished from those of Pharmacist and Supervising Pharmacist in that an incumbent in the position of Clinical Pharmacist by virtue of specialized training, is concerned with complex problems of pharmacologic actions, drug monitoring and the educational implications of health professional training programs.

Employment Standards:
Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy with a Doctoral Degree in pharmacy AND one (1) year of residency or internship in clinical pharmacy OR Two (2) years supervised experience in clinical pharmacy activities.
LICENSE: Possession of a current valid license to practice pharmacy in the State of California is required at the time of appointment to this position. Possession and maintenance of a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card. Appointees not possessing the BLS card must successfully complete appropriate training and qualify for the BLS card within 60 days of employment.

Knowledge of pharmaceutical chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, and current drug therapy; knowledge of current federal and state laws relative to dispensing and use of controlled drugs; ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, pharmacists, and other therapeutic personnel.
Employees must maintain all health requirements designated by Kern Medical; Depending on assignment incumbents may be required to possess and maintain specific certificates of competency as a condition of employment; A background check may be required for this classification.
