Job Summary and Qualifications -----------------------------

The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmaceutical care activities to ensure safe and effective drug therapy through the provision of clinical pharmacy services. The Clinical Pharmacist delivers pharmaceutical care services by monitoring and intervening in therapeutics to provide optimum outcomes in a cost-effective manner.

The Clinical Pharmacist fulfills departmental responsibilities within the long-range plan, mission, vision, and values of the hospital.

What You Will Do in This Role -----------------------------

  • Utilize good problem-solving abilities, ensuring that problems are resolved, calling on other knowledgeable parties as necessary.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations and dispense accordingly.
  • Consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors, and complaints.
  • Determine and consult on possible drug interactions.
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives, inventory, and ordering of pharmaceuticals.
  • Monitor records and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Utilize knowledge of age-specific needs of patients in performance of duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications --------------

  • Current KY Pharmacist licensure or eligible for licensure.
  • One-year hospital experience or equivalent.
  • Hospital pharmacy residency preferred.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
  • Doctorate Degree or Bachelors Degree.
