JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Office Specialist is responsible for delivering courteous, prompt and respectful customer service. Responsible for assisting patients, scheduling, registration of accounts, pre-certification, answering phones, sending patient information to appropriate individuals, billing, collecting and recording of co-pays, creating, maintaining (includes scanning of records) and discharging of patient electronic medical records. Responsible for assisting Wellness members with paperwork and schedules of programs and collection of payments. Adheres to organizational policies and procedures; regulatory/accrediting body requirements; and professional practice standards. Responsible for being knowledgeable of standard of practice for Rehabilitative Services (Physical and Occupational Therapy) in an outpatient, inpatient and acute inpatient rehabilitation setting, along with wellness and fitness services and regulations established by the payers.
Demonstrates critical thinking to assure the delivery of safe, quality care to adolescents, adult and geriatric clients. Responsible for excelling in prompt, courteous and respectful customer service at all times to every customer. Assures the safety of all customers. Effectively communicates with all customers. Effectively communicates & collaborates with other healthcare team members and between intra/inter departments, adheres to organizational policy and procedures, abides by regulatory/accrediting body requirements and professional practice standards. Assists with the daily operations and collecting statistics within the rehabilitation and medical fitness center. Responsible for completing in a timely manner, all assigned tasks and duties utilizing multi-tasking skills. Responsible for assuring confidentiality of customer information and departmental information.
Requirements Include
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge of medical terminology required
One year secretarial experience in a multi-level environment, OR
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Ability to work variable days and hours as necessary.
Current CPR certification required
