Position: Registered Nurse - Clinic
Shift: 4 10 hour shifts or Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm
Location: Moab, UT
Salary: $75,000 a year
General Purpose
The Clinical Nurse provides direct patient care and supports medical providers through coordination, assessment, patient education, and administrative duties. This role is vital to ensuring high-quality, compassionate care for all clinic patients, with a focus on chronic disease management, preventive services, and community health outreach.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care; Coordination
- Conduct vital signs, intake, and assessments.
- Assist providers with procedures.
- Review charts to ensure orders, prescriptions, and referrals are complete and sent.
- Coordinate diagnostics and ensure all results are in the patient’s chart before appointments.
- Handle medication refill requests.
- Conduct follow-up phone calls and referral tracking.
- Provide patient education on self-care, medications, and symptom management.
- Distribute and maintain educational materials and pamphlets.
- Manage a panel of patients with chronic illnesses.
2. Clinical Support; Visit Preparation
- Collaborate with front desk and clinical staff to prepare for daily clinics.
- Review PHQ-9 and GAD-7 screening tools and facilitate mental health referrals.
- Verify lab results, diagnostics, and past records are available before appointments.
- Prepare and organize all necessary supplies, instruments, and documentation based on patient visit types.
- Collect faxes requiring provider signature and manage document flow.
3. Nurse Visits & Procedures
- Administer injections, wound care, suture removal, ear irrigation, etc.
- Provide contraception counseling, including emergency contraception.
4. Provider Coordination
- Organize provider documentation and notes.
- Communicate any relevant patient updates to providers.
- Facilitate coordination of care across multiple providers and external facilities.
- Set up clinic logistics for volunteer providers
5. Laboratory Management
- Collect, process, and label all lab specimens (e.g., blood, urine, fecal, PAP).
- Communicate lab results to patients and coordinate follow-up care.
- Research lab pricing and provide guidance to patients.
- Liaise with LabCorp and Quest for patient-specific needs.
6. STI; HIV Testing Program
- Provide certified STI/HIV testing and counseling.
- Report positive STI results to the Health Department.
- Deliver treatment, education, and prevention services.
7. Triage; Walk-In Care
- Triage incoming calls and walk-in patients.
- Assess needs and initiate care planning with appropriate documentation.
8. Inventory; Facility Maintenance
- Order and manage medical supplies, equipment, and medications.
- Maintain stock and cleanliness in exam rooms and clinical areas.
9. Community; Administrative Engagement
- Represent the clinic at outreach events and community programs.
- Support execution of grant deliverables and assist with reporting.
- De-escalate situations with agitated or distressed patients/family members.
- Train and manage medical volunteers.
- Develop and maintain clinical workflows, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
