This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital, 130 SC-252, Anderson, SC 29621.
As the Clinical Nurse Educator/Registered Nurse, Institutional working under supervision of the Nurse Education Supervisor, you will develop and deliver clinical training, onboarding, and competency-based education to nursing staff for Harris Hospital. Oversee preceptor, mentor, and orientate experiences and provide ongoing education to nursing staff ensuring best practice and standards of care are met. Apply a high level of knowledge in age-specific criteria and interventions appropriate for effective and therapeutic interactions with adult psychiatric patients across the lifespan including those who have diverse backgrounds, disabilities, and co-occurring disorders.
Responsibilities for the Clinical Nurse Educator/Registered Nurse, Institutional:
Provide orientation for nursing employees and facilitate the clinical experience for nursing students. Update education material to reflect updated policies, procedures, and best practice.
Assist in providing mandatory training and certification to include CPR and Mandt instruction for all required disciplines.
Develop and conduct ongoing nursing education/training and activities to nursing employees for all three (3) shifts. Serve in a consultant role to assist Individual employees in improving job performance. Provide support to the Nurse Manager/DON/ADON in the delivery of patient care.
Participate in hospital-based performance improvement activities and systemically evaluates the quality of patient care, effectiveness of nursing practice, and patients satisfaction outcomes of care. Coordinate Performance Improvement (PI) activities utilizing the Nursing Process and PI findings to access the learning needs of nursing employees. Participate in committees as assigned.
Provide direct patient care in critical staff situations or in emergency situations as assigned. Relieve Nursing Supervisor as assigned. Collaborate with the treatment team in multidisciplinary treatment planning process to facilitate and optimize patient care.
Maintain SCEIS data entry for employee training and education.
Maintain instructor status in CPR and other assigned courses. Maintain clinical competency through continuing education programs or in-services. Attend nonmandatory (20 hours) & mandatory in-services (e.g. CPR/Mandt//SCEIS).
