Summary

Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of the ongoing competency of clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• May perform clinical patient care when needed. • Supports an environment that promotes evidence-based nursing practice based on nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. • Collaborates with nursing leaders and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff. • Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization. • Participates in research activities, quality improvement, or evidence-based practice initiatives. • Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of all education activities on assigned unit(s). • Manages the onboarding and orientation of all new employees and students on assigned unit(s). • Uses the best available evidence to guide practice decisions. • Serves as a consultant/mentor/change agent for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development. • Plans, updates, and evaluates clinical competencies to assess quality of patient care delivered and ensure regulatory compliance on assigned unit(s).
