The Clinical Learning Specialist facilitates and supervises clinical experiences for students in educational placements in health and social care settings. The Clinical Learning Specialist collaborates with School of Nursing faculty, the health and social care providers, and the clinical agencies to deliver a comprehensive and high-quality clinical education experience for pre-licensure nursing students

This is a 12 month position with teaching responsibilities in summer term.

Duties/Responsibilities

Provide supervision of students within the clinical setting, assist the students to accomplish the clinical learning objectives defined by the course

  • Understand the course and clinical objectives of the course to which they are assigned to provide clinical instruction and be familiar with the overall academic program curriculum.

  • Provide supervision of students within the clinical setting and provide safe, quality patient or client care in a positive and supportive learning environment

  • Assist the students to accomplish the clinical learning objectives defined by the course

  • Facilitate clinical experiences for each student in the clinical group(s) for which they are assigned consistent with course and clinical objectives

  • If applicable, provide supervision of students engaging clinical education through simulation activities

Evaluate Student Performance

  • Evaluate students' clinical practice and provide feedback to students on their accomplishment of clinical objectives.

  • Collaborate with course faculty in student remediation plans if necessary.

Guide students in their growth in the relevant health or social care profession

  • Validate students' understanding of theoretical, scientific, and evidence-based practice to support safe and effective care

  • Assist the students to learn clinical decision-making and clinical judgment skills, develop competency in the execution of clinical skills and foster good communication skills with patients, clients, families, and other members of the health or social care team.

Requirements:

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience

  • Registered Nurse with a Master degree in relevant health or social care discipline and 2 years of experience in the relevant clinical specialty area.

  • Or bachelor's degree with enrollment in a master's degree program and five years of experience in the relevant clinical specialty area.

  • Unencumbered professional license and eligible for RN licensure in the state of NH

Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • Unencumbered professional license within relevant State

  • Current BLS Certification.

  • Must comply with health and safety documentation requirements of clinical facilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong clinical expertise in nursing practice

  • Effective teaching and communication skills and ability to facilitate student learning in clinical settings

  • Skilled in student evaluation and feedback

  • Proficient in clinical documentation and electronic health records (EHR)

  • Ability to model professional behavior and ethical practice

  • Commitment to student success and academic excellence

  • Ability to collaborate with academic and clinical partners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in clinical teaching/precepting

Compensation Pay Range:

$47,920.00 - $85,410.00
