Clinical Laboratory Technologist – Generalist

9pm-7:30am w/rotating weekends 4-day/10hr shiftThe Clinical Lab Technologist performs specialized technical analyses of blood and other specimens to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This role also ensures proper specimen handling and accurate communication of test results to physicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical testing in the core laboratory across areas such as Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Special Hematology, Coagulation, and manual testing, using blood, urine, body fluids, and other specimen types.
- Conduct and analyze a wide range of tests including chemistry panels, thyroid studies, therapeutic drug monitoring, drugs of abuse screening, CBC with differential, urinalysis with microscopy, PT/PTT, ROTEM, and other diagnostic tests.
- Interpret, review, and verify test results, and communicate findings to physicians, nursing staff, and other providers, including immediate notification of critical values.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; assist with validation of new procedures and instrumentation.
- Perform quality control procedures, document corrective actions, and ensure proper preparation, storage, and use of reagents to maintain accuracy and reliability of results.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), support overall laboratory operations, provide technical assistance, train new staff as needed, and escalate issues to supervisors.
- Perform proficiency testing and complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
Experience:
0–2 years of experience as a Clinical Lab Technologist (preferred)
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent experience (required)
Licenses / Certifications:
Either:
(a) Current license and registration as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist issued by the New York State Education Department, or
(b) A limited permit or restricted license to practice clinical laboratory technology issued by the New York State Education Department
