Job Description

This role performs complex analyses on blood, tissue, and other body fluids to support health care providers in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating patients. You will work in a specialized cell and molecular immunology laboratory, using both highly skilled manual techniques and sophisticated automated instrumentation. The position focuses heavily on working at the PBMC bench, isolating white blood cells from patient blood under sterile conditions, while contributing to operational support activities that maintain and optimize testing capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to aid in diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients.
  • Conduct specialized testing in a cell and molecular immunology laboratory, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Work at the PBMC bench to manually isolate white blood cells from patient blood using sterile technique within a biosafety cabinet.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and sophisticated automated testing equipment.
  • Evaluate test performance and results for accuracy and reliability, and assist with interpreting results as needed.
  • Participate in operational support activities to maintain and optimize testing capabilities, including quality control and process improvement tasks.
  • Use multiple computer systems to retrieve patient and test information, enter data, and accurately report results.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols while working with infectious specimens, chemicals, and other laboratory hazards.
  • Assist with specimen collection when needed, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and processing.
  • Collaborate closely with a team of laboratory technologists and technicians on a shared bench while maintaining focus and minimizing distractions.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and quality in all laboratory work, documentation, and reporting.
  • Follow laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and consistent testing standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor"s degree in chemistry or a human biological science is required (such as Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Animal Science, Marine Biology, Neuroscience, or similar fields).
  • Master"s degree in a relevant scientific field is welcome; the role does not extend to PhD or engineering degrees.
  • Eligibility for Optional Practical Training (OPT) is accepted for qualified candidates.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
