Position Summary

The Clinical Informatics Program Manager – EMR/EHR is responsible for managing UBMD’s Epic EMR program. This role assesses, plans, coordinates, evaluates, and manages key clinical projects associated with clinical systems and other e-health strategies to ensure successful completion.

The position manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of current- and future-state analyses to support operational redesign and workflow optimization through the integration of technology into clinical workflows. This includes incorporating clinical best practices and regulatory requirements into workflow redesign.

The Clinical Informatics Program Manager manages complex interactions between clinical applications, care processes, and operational workflows. This role also supervises department employees and manages the day-to-day operations of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the clinical process redesign, metric design and consultative services for the electronic health record and other e-Health initiatives.
  • Manages complex interactions between applications being implemented and various patient care processes and workflows.
  • Creates an environment that establishes collaborative practice that displays the presence of trust, respect and good communication among customers. Acts as a role model for the UBMD Service Values.
  • Assists with the annual budgets. Ensures cost effective operations by scrutinizing resource utilization such as scheduling practices, payroll and inventory control.
  • Promotes cooperative problem solving, appropriate delegation, and the building of team spirit through individual counseling, and assumes responsibility for own professional development.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and advances in the field of nursing and healthcare informatics.
  • Supervises policy development and monitoring of process changes related to clinical system implementation.
  • Conducts annual staff performance appraisals and goal setting, continual performance development, corrective action and disciplinary processes. Displays leadership skills that include, coaching, guiding and mentoring.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, informatics, or a related field required. Relevant experience and/or education may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, as determined by the company.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a professional manner.
  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data across multiple departments and computerized databases.
  • Ability to utilize various EMR systems installed across office locations.
  • Ability to function with a high level of independence while seeking guidance from the Director and/or upper management for unusual or unanticipated circumstances.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with multiple departments, management teams, and personnel.
  • Self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical, writing, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Effective leadership, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent administrative, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple systems and projects concurrently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a health-related field, informatics, or a related field preferred.
  • Informatics certificate preferred.
  • Epic EMR application certification preferred.
  • Clinical Informatics fellowship preferred.
  • Project Management certification preferred.
