Overview:

Clinical Education & Quality Nurse (RN) serves as educator, facilitator, performance consultant, and quality leader for Riverside Miller Healthcare. This role coordinates new employee orientation, ongoing staff development, competency validation, and clinical training while also overseeing quality assurance activities, regulatory readiness, and performance improvement.

This individual supports nursing leadership, promotes best practices, and helps ensure safe, person-centered care consistent with CMS, IDPH, and accrediting standards. Position may provide clinical support as needed, including coverage as Nurse Manager.

 

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time | Days | Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-4:30PM
  • This role is expected to be on call with a call rotation of once every five weeks.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate orientation for nurses, CNAs, and interdisciplinary staff.
  • Track completion of orientation, competencies, and required training.
  • Develop instructor-led, self-study, and web-based training programs.
  • Assess learning needs through surveys, audits, outcomes, and leadership feedback.
  • Provide coaching and just-in-time training for opportunities identified in audits.
  • Reserve, set up, and maintain audiovisual, skills, and CPR equipment.
  • Coordinate clinical student experiences in collaboration with schools.
  • Validate and document staff competencies (skills fairs, return demonstrations, etc.).
  • Assist with implementation of new policies, EMR workflows, equipment, or clinical processes.
  • Apply change-management strategies to support sustainable practice change.
  • Participate in development and monitoring of the facility QAPI plan.
  • Conduct routine audits (documentation, falls, wounds, meds, catheter use, etc.).
  • Analyze trends, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support survey readiness; assist with survey response plans and follow-up.
  • Ensure training programs align with performance improvement priorities.
  • Ensure mandatory training meets CMS/IDPH and accrediting requirements.
  • Educate staff regarding new or revised policies, clinical guidelines, and regulations.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff.
  • Assist with clinical rounds as needed.
  • Provide coverage as Nurse Manager.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Provide coverage as Floor Nurse only in rare circumstances when on call and no other coverage is available
Responsibilities:

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience and healthcare training. 
  • Performance consulting, organizational development experience preferred

Required Licensure/Education:

  • Current IL RN license

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelors degree in nursing or related field preferred
  • Competence in technical, clinical and teaching/learning skill
  • American Heart Association CPR instructor, preferred
