Job Summary:
The Department of Endocrinology at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children is seeking a pediatric Clinical Registered Dietitian (RD) to provide medical nutrition therapy for pediatric patients in both the hospital and outpatient clinic settings.
The Clinical Dietitian II will perform comprehensive nutrition assessments, diagnose nutrition-related problems, determine and implement appropriate targeted interventions and monitor and evaluate outcomes utilizing the Nutrition Care Process. The Clinical Dietitian II may have medical nutrition order writing privileges and may participate in EMR order entry for oral nutrition supplements, modular, oral diets, tube feedings (enteral nutrition) and intravenous feedings (parenteral nutrition) per the Clinical Registered Dietitian Medical Nutrition Therapy Order Management Protocol. The Clinical Dietitian II participates in on-going education programs for hospital staff, community, parent groups and professional organizations. Participates in performance improvement and outcome research activities. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
The Clinical Dietitian II demonstrates strong clinical nutrition knowledge in complex areas of pediatric nutrition and pediatric diabetes disease management. The Clinical Dietitian II will provide patients with ongoing nutrition assessment and outcome-oriented nutrition counseling as necessary to assist patients in achieving and maintaining optimal diabetes management. The Clinical Dietitian II will report directly to the Director of Clinical Nutrition.
Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrates the ability to work with various members of multidisciplinary teams as well as with other employees throughout the organization. Strong knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy principles (pediatric experience required) as they relate to education and counseling for patients with diabetes. Knowledge with insulin pens, continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to patients and families, medical staff and physicians. Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units. Ability to counsel and educate others. Understands the scientific rationale and application of, as well as the basic nutritional content, sources and use of commercial oral supplements, tube feedings, infant formulas, intravenous feedings and feeding modules (carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals). Understands the scientific rationale of diabetes management as it relates to carbohydrate counting and insulin dosing. General knowledge of Word Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel, EMR.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Registered Dietitian (RD) credentialed from the Committee on Dietetic Registration (CDR), Licensure in the state of Pennsylvania (LDN).
Experience
Two years related paid clinical experience required as a Clinical Registered Dietitian with pediatric experience strongly preferred, diabetes management required.
Certification and Licensure
Registered Dietitian (RD) credentialed. Pennsylvania State Licensure (LDN) required within 90 days of hire. Board certification in Diabetes Education (CDE or CDCES) preferred. All credentials, PDP and licensure must be maintained.
