Position Summary

Plans, coordinates, and implements nutritional therapy services for assigned patient populations within a behavioral health setting.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses patient nutritional status and identifies individual dietary needs
  • Develops, implements, and monitors patient-specific nutrition care plans
  • Evaluates patient responses to nutrition interventions and adjusts plans accordingly
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, pharmacy, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate medical nutrition therapy
  • Partners with departmental leadership to ensure nutritionally appropriate menus, food selections, and services for patients and visitors
  • Provides education, training, and counseling to patients, staff, and community members on topics such as eating disorders, weight management, and therapeutic diets
  • Supports organizational initiatives related to nutrition, wellness, and patient outcomes

  • Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, high-stress healthcare environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field (required)
  • Experience: Clinical nutrition experience preferred, particularly in behavioral health or acute care settings

License & Certifications

  • Licensed Dietitian in the State of Kentucky (required)
  • Registered Dietitian (Commission on Dietetic Registration) (required)

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
