The Clinical Care Attendant supports providers by assisting with clinical and administrative tasks in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This role includes patient intake, vital sign collection, performing point-of-care tests, assisting with procedures, and ensuring a smooth patient experience from arrival to checkout. The attendant acts as a key team member, facilitating communication between patients, providers, and staff while maintaining compliance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:
- Greet, register, and room patients; collect vital signs and patient history.
- Assist providers with clinical procedures and perform point-of-care testing as directed.
- Provide patient education and comfort, review after-visit instructions, and conduct follow-up calls.
- Maintain exam rooms, medical supplies, and clinic logs per protocol.
- Communicate with patients, providers, pharmacies, and staff effectively.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and safety standards.
- Participate in clinic meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
Qualifications:
- Current Iowa certification as EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or CMA
- IF EMT/Paramedic: Current and Active Permit to Practice/License in State of Practice
- IF LPN: Current and Active/Unencumbered LPN License in State of Practice
- IF Certified Medical Assistant: Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or associate’s degree) required.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:
- National Healthcare Association
- American Association of Medical Assistants
- National Center for Competency Testing
- National Certified Medical Assistant
- National Association of Health Professionals
- American Registry of Medical Assistants
- American Allied Health
- American Medical Technologists
- Clinical experience preferred!
- Epic experience a plus!
- For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
