The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida is seeking a Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to serve as an Adult Neuro-Oncologist. This is a non-tenure track position. They will provide comprehensive clinical care for adults with primary brain tumors and other central nervous system malignancies within the Preston A. Wells Jr. Brain Tumor Center at the University of Florida. This primarily clinical faculty position includes outpatient and inpatient care within a multidisciplinary team, along with contributions to teaching and clinical research. The role is essential to expanding patient access, enhancing continuity of care, and increasing clinical trial enrollment as the program continues to grow as a nationally recognized leader in neuro-oncology.The Lillian S. Wells Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida, College of Medicine is committed to providing comprehensive clinical services for the diagnosis, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients suffering from diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system, including brain tumors, aneurysms, stroke, epilepsy, functional disorders, and spinal disorders and injuries. Our clinical care mission also extends throughout North Central Florida through regional neurosurgery programs. We offer the full spectrum of neurosurgical and neuro-oncology treatment options for both adults and pediatric patients. Our research labs and investigator-led initiatives and clinical trials are developing promising new treatments for neurological diseases that are extremely difficult to treat with conventional therapies. The Department of Neurosurgery offers education and training programs such as ACGME-accredited neurosurgery residency programs and fellowship programs.

Job Description:

The Adult Neuro-Oncologist will provide comprehensive clinical care for adult patients with primary brain tumors and other central nervous system malignancies within the Preston A. Wells Jr. Brain Tumor Center at the University of Florida. This position will focus primarily on clinical care, including outpatient neuro-oncology clinics, inpatient consultations, and longitudinal management of patients undergoing neurosurgery, radiation therapy, systemic therapies, and clinical trials. The faculty member will work closely with neurosurgery, radiation oncology, and medical oncology to support a multidisciplinary care model and ensure timely evaluation and treatment of complex neuro-oncology patients.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the faculty member will contribute to the Center’s academic mission through teaching and research. Responsibilities include mentoring trainees, participating in multidisciplinary tumor boards, and supporting clinical research initiatives and early-phase clinical trials. The position will play a critical role in expanding patient access, enhancing continuity of care, and increasing clinical trial enrollment as the Brain Tumor Center continues to grow as a nationally recognized program in neuro-oncology.

Expected Salary:

Salary commensurate with experience and education

Required Qualifications:MD or Ph.D and/or Ph.D/MD
Preferred:
  • Board certification in Neurology, Medical Oncology, or a related specialty.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the management of adult patients with primary brain tumors and other CNS malignancies within an academic medical center
  • Record of scholarly activity and experience with clinical trials.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning skills with the ability to execute complex initiatives
  • Demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships across specialties and departments
  • Commitment to advancing patient-centered, team-based care models
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring faculty, trainees, and research staff
  • Strong focus on quality improvement, data-driven decision-making, and outcomes measurement
