Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master's degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. Position Summary

The School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting for a full-time, fixed-term faculty member with experience and specialization as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). We are seeking dynamic, innovative candidates to support our teaching, research and service missions and to advance their academic careers. The faculty member will work collaboratively to teach and supervise students across both graduate and prelicensure programs, including clinical practice, and will contribute to program development and implementation with a primary focus on the PMHNP track. This role includes teaching and clinical supervision responsibilities in undergraduate (prelicensure) courses alongside graduate-level instruction, supporting integration of psychiatric-mental health content across the curriculum.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in nursing required. Doctorate preferred.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Eligibility for RN License in North Carolina. At least 2 years of clinical experience. Ability to demonstrate leadership in academic practices.

Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)

Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or Certified Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNEcl)
