Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the registered nurse the Clinical Assistant (CA) will help provide competent care for pediatric surgical patients on a 27-bed inpatient unit.
  • Surgical specialties include orthopedics, general surgery, trauma, ORL, and plastic surgery.
  • In collaboration with the registered nurse, the CA is responsible for obtaining vital signs including oxygen saturation measurements, measuring intake and output, performing EKGs, and obtaining and labeling laboratory specimens; all while identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
  • The CA may assist with transporting patients, stocking of supplies and equipment as needed.
  • The CA role provides the opportunity to practice in a family centered environment.
  • The ability to work a schedule of 12-hour shifts, 24 hours/week, permanent night shifts, every weekend (Sat/Sun 7PM - 7 AM)

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

A HS Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 1-year CA experience, CNA certification, or Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to work within a team.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
