Job Duties
Provides excellent customer service and greets patients entering the department/practice. A multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician and Office Manager or Team Lead. The Clinical Assistant will perform diagnostic testing under the supervision of the Physician/Extender.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
• Assist with patient examination or treatments,
• Perform diagnostic testing such as stress test, ABI’s, and EKG.
• May perform scribe functions by documenting all provider /patient interactions in the medical record under the supervision and responsivity of a license’s clinician.
• Observe and report patients’ signs or symptoms; Participate in Performance Improvement projects; Participates as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care
• Assist with patient Vital signs/medication reconciliation: Provides a standard of excellent as it relates to customer
service for patients, staff members, and other customers.
• Assist with test scoring; Assist with report communication; Assist in venipuncture for lab draws
• Receives and directs messages, (electronic, in person and telephone calls) to the appropriate personnel. Makes contacts to other departments, physicians, patients and other outside organizations as necessary for the departmental/practice operations.
• Maintains patient scheduling functions, and sets patient appointments through established guidelines. Interviews and completes the registration process for patients utilizing the specific service.
• Keys patient dispositions, diagnostic codes, patient orders, charges and payments as defined in the electronic medical record.
• All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:Experience Requirements
2 years Two - Four years Clerical/customer service experience -ideally
in a health care related industry preferred
1 year One-year experience with third party payors and computer
experience for in putting data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
Bachelor degree in medicine, with plans for a career in dental, medicine, advanced
medical practice, pharmacy, chiropractor, physical and occupational therapy or
other allied health fields. required
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire
