Job Description

The School of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Purdue University invites applications for a 12-month fiscal-year non-tenure-track clinical faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Associate or Full Professor commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position includes teaching responsibilities in Medical Laboratory Sciences MLS and Biomedical Health Sciences with primary emphasis in MLS and service as Director of the Medical Laboratory Sciences program. The successful candidate will provide academic and administrative leadership support continued program growth and contribute to excellence in undergraduate education.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach existing undergraduate courses and develop new courses required for students in the Medical Laboratory Sciences and Biomedical Health Sciences programs. These programs include students preparing for medical physician assistant and other health professional pathways. The faculty member is expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching through innovative evidence-based pedagogy curriculum development and effective student education and mentoring. They will also advance the scholarship of learning within these disciplines. As a member of the School they will also be expected to serve on faculty committees.

As Director of the Medical Laboratory Sciences program this individual will provide leadership in program administration and strategic planning and explore potential site accreditation. Responsibilities include overseeing daily program operations coordinating clinical placements maintaining and expanding partnerships with affiliated clinical laboratories supporting student recruitment and retention advising students and assisting with undergraduate course scheduling within the School of Health Sciences. The director will collaborate with faculty staff and external stakeholders to ensure that the curriculum aligns with professional standards and workforce needs and will contribute to scholarly innovation in curricular instruction.

This is a 12-month appointment with a teaching load across all academic sessions.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a minimum of a Masters degree by the time of employment in Medical Laboratory Sciences or a related biomedical health sciences field. A doctoral or Ph.D. degree in related field is preferred. National or equivalent international clinical certification in medical or clinical laboratory sciences and a minimum of three years of clinical experience are preferred. Prior academic leadership experience familiarity with accreditation standards and demonstrated excellence in teaching and program development are highly desirable. Successful candidates must possess strong organizational communication and leadership skills and a commitment to student success and professional preparation.
