Job Description

East Hawaii Rural Health Clinics is seeking a Clinic Supervisors to support the daily operations and coordination of the Gastroenterology Clinic in Hilo. In this role, you will oversee clinic workflows, supervise staff, and partner with providers and leadership teams to ensure efficient operations and high-quality patient care. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting accessible, patient-centered healthcare services within a rural community setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of multi-specialty outpatient clinics, including scheduling, referrals, authorizations, registration accuracy, patient flow, staffing coverage, and front-office processes.
  • Monitor and manage Epic work queues to support timely scheduling, referral processing, authorizations, registration accuracy, and revenue cycle integrity.
  • Supervise, train, and support assigned clinic staff while promoting accountability, teamwork, customer service, and professional development.
  • Ensure clinic operations comply with all applicable federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards, including HIPAA, CMS, OSHA, Joint Commission, and HHSC requirements.
  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of clinic policies, workflows, utilization review, quality assurance activities, and operational improvements.
  • Address patient, staff, and provider concerns professionally while fostering positive communication and collaboration across departments and clinic teams.

Education & Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Two (2) years of work experience coordinating and managing a medical or surgical clinic operation, including clinic procedures, personnel management, budgeting, and healthcare operations.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience involving planning operations, assigning and reviewing work, scheduling staff, and training employees.


Preferred Skills:
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Knowledge of outpatient clinic operations, managed care processes, healthcare regulations, and customer service principles highly desirable. Experience with Epic workflows, referrals, authorizations, and clinic scheduling preferred. Ability to build positive working relationships with patients, providers, staff, and community partners while supporting operational excellence and patient-centered care.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen.  The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
