Job Description:

Schedules examinations and appointments for patients. Creates new patient packets, including necessary forms and informational materials. Reviews medical requests to confirm all elements are present and the requestor is authorized to obtain records per HIPAA and relevant laws. Processes the release of medical records within the leadership-provided timeframe. Validates patient information before scanning, uploading, mailing, or releasing it. Registers patients by collecting and entering personal and insurance information into the system. Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits to confirm coverage for services. Updates systems with necessary historic, clinical, insurance, and pertinent information. Obtains all relevant medical records for current diagnosis and past treatments. Retrieves, sorts, and distributes department mail. Keeps organized files and office equipment. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bi-lingual (English required and Spanish preferred, both written and verbal communication [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR [Preferred]
  • Experience working with and obtaining insurance authorizations [Preferred]
  • Read and understand medical terminology [Preferred]

Education:

  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
  • Associate [Preferred]

Work Experience:

  • 1+ customer service in a medical office setting [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA [Preferred]
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS [Required]
  • National Notary Association Notary Public (NNANP [Preferred]
