Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital is seeking a Clinic Nursing Supervisor to join our team!

Overview:

Job Title: Clinic Nursing Supervisor

Location: Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital

FTE: Full Time (80 hours/pay period)

Shift: Monday-Friday Days

 

Summary:

The Clinic Nursing Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for nursing and clinical support staff within assigned ambulatory care areas. This role coordinates daily clinical operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care while supporting regulatory compliance, staffing effectiveness, and operational excellence. Working closely with the Manager of Clinic Nursing, the Supervisor coaches and develops staff, promotes clinical best practices, and helps implement departmental priorities, staffing strategies, and quality initiatives to support exceptional patient care and team performance.

 

Duties:

  • Provide direct supervision to frontline nursing and clinical support staff within assigned areas.
  • Monitor and adjust staffing throughout the day to meet patient demand and operational needs.
  • Ensure clinical workflows, protocols, and procedures are followed consistently by staff.
  • Participate in and support implementation of operational changes, new workflows, or clinical initiatives.
  • Facilitate regular huddles, attend and assist in leading team meetings to share priorities and reinforce standards.
  • Conduct regular rounding to observe performance, support staff, and promote engagement.
  • Conduct performance reviews for frontline staff, including coaching, development planning, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Manage daily attendance, schedule adherence, and timely follow-up on attendance concerns.
  • Partner with the Nursing Manager in addressing higher-level performance issues.
  • Oversee daily scheduling, break assignments, and real-time staffing adjustments.
  • Collaborate with the Nursing Staffing Coordinator to ensure appropriate nursing coverage.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance workflows, patient care processes, and team performance within assigned clinic areas.
  • Participate in hiring processes, including interviewing, selection, and onboarding of frontline staff.
  • Manage and coordinate onboarding and training schedules for new staff of assigned areas to ensure timely completion of required competencies and workflow training.
  • Communicate updates related to operations, workflows, policies, procedures, and Epic optimization to ensure staff understanding, clarity and consistent practice among clinical staff.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration with providers, other members of clinic leadership, and operational partners to ensure integrated care delivery.
  • Partner with the Epic IT Analyst(s) to understand clinical EHR workflows and translate them into practical guidance for frontline staff for effective support and accurate documentation, scheduling, and patient flow.
  • Monitors Fairview Health Services standardization initiatives, EHR updates, and system rollouts; evaluates applicability to clinic operations and leads effective implementation, including staff education and change support.
  • Assist with schedule review, supply oversight, and workload distribution as needed.
  • Promote a culture of patient-centered care, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote and model safe clinical practices, including proper infection control and documentation standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Current RN nursing licensure in the state of Minnesota.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related field required.
  • Two years of healthcare supervisory experience required.
  • Current BLS certification or ability to complete within two months of employment. Demonstrated ability to adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital policies, procedures, mission, vision, and values.
  • Ability to understand and follow established clinical and operational processes and apply them consistently to support daily workflow and team operations.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance.
