Job Overview:
The Client Financial Services Manager proactively partners with Boards, Finance Committees, Treasures, operating leadership, and General Managers to address complex financial challenges, and strengthen client confidence. The Client Financial Services Manager supports teams in aligning reporting to client expectations and driving improved satisfaction and retention through problem-solving, education, and influence. Additionally, the Financial Manager will have a portfolio of key clients where they present financial statements and budget templates, answer questions, provide manager and Board support, prepare monthly financial reviews and recommendations, and attend Board meetings.
The Client Financial Services Manager will be responsible to lead the Board relationship during the initial on boarding (90 days) of new properties. They will interface with the Accounting and On-Boarding teams throughout the process to make sure the transition and contract timelines are met. Additionally, they will collaborate with other Client Financial Services Managers, Accountants, and Accounting Leadership to review and enhance the financial statement preparation process, and suggest enhancements, with the objective of strengthening the relationship with the client.
The Client Financial Services Manager must possess a high degree of accountability, a sense of urgency, commitment, ownership, and passion for financial statement presentations and building great relationships. Additionally, they will establish action plans to provide the clients with financial awareness and education to enhance the clients’ financial condition. This position will collaborate with clients and boards as needed to support special projects, financial analytics, modeling, and reporting.
The Client Financial Services Manager must have excellent communication skills to partner with operations, interact with both internal and external clients, and be a knowledgeable leader in financial accounting and the property management industry. Sound business understanding and presenting practical solutions are crucial requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review the monthly financial statements with analytical insight to summarize and present to Clients/ Boards, highlighting the variances, key drivers, potential risks, and opportunities.
- Prepare Annual operating budget template for managers to present to the clients. Interface with the Manager and Board throughout the budget process. Review of the final budget for accuracy.
- Review closing schedules, accruals, pre-payments, depreciation and amortization schedules and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the results
- Partner with operations and, in collaboration, identify key drivers, variances, and potential risks and opportunities to include in monthly financial reports.
- Provide information and interface with external auditors who prepare client audits
- Schedule meetings with Boards to review/respond to questions and deliver finance write-ups after each board meeting
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed
- Practice and adhere to FirstService Residential Global Service Standards
- Always conduct business with the highest standards of personal, professional, and ethical conduct
- Participate in training or company initiatives as assigned.
- Is as a mentor / coach and be considered a trusted partner with Community Management and Client Accounting associates.
- Is a brand ambassador and models our company values and builds meaningful relationships with clients and associates.

Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or statistics required, with a master’s degree preferred
- Proven experience working as a senior level accountant or financial analyst
- 7+ years’ experience in accounting / financial services, with a proven understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Experience with HOA or member organization Boards of Directors preferred
- HOA Leadership experience with large communities is a plus
- Experience in banking platforms, fund accounting, and reporting
- Hands-on month-end closing experience with large multi-entity organization, bank reconciliations, balance sheet schedules, and analysis for mid-to-large companies

- Deep understanding of accounting systems and processes, and financial statement production
- Ability to review and present financial statements and explain accounting processes and controls
- Community management (HOA) experience – operational and / or financial
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Detail oriented and strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Critical thinking, problem solving, judgment and decision-making ability
- Ability to effectively manage projects
- Ability to lead through influence
- Strong customer service skills and ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders.

Compensation: $60000 - $100000 / year
