Automotive Technician - Summary

Functions as an experienced technician who can diagnose and repair most vehicle components with little supervision, and has previously worked as a C-Class general service technician.

A C-Tech is generally an entry-to-intermediate technician focused on maintenance, inspections, and basic repair work while developing diagnostic skills.
Typical Responsibilities
  • Perform oil changes, tire rotations, fluid services, and other routine maintenance.
  • Conduct multi-point vehicle inspections and identify repair needs.
  • Diagnose and repair basic mechanical and electrical concerns.
  • Document repairs and inspection findings accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Follow manufacturer and dealership repair procedures.
  • Communicate findings to service advisors and senior technicians.
  • Participate in manufacturer training and certification programs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Basic automotive repair knowledge or prior technician/lube technician experience.
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment and service information systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced shop environment.
  • ASE certifications are often preferred but not required for C-Level positions.
