The McHenry County Sheriff's Office has an opening for a full time Clerk II in their Civil Process Division.

Work schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm

JOB SUMMARY:

The Clerk II performs a variety of specialized duties associated with the processing, maintenance, and retrieval of documents and data within the Records Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The following duty statements are the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required. In addition, the Sheriff of McHenry County reserves the right to change the duties and essential functions of this job at any time.

  • Accepts, reviews and processes reports and records generated by the Department.
  • Performs data entry and retrieval of related records.
  • Assists in the collection and preparation of data in accordance with the mandated reporting requirements.
  • Assists in the storage, retrieval and dissemination of the Departments records according to State and Federal requirements.
  • May compile information and maintain records and files.
  • Make appropriate data entry into State and National databases.
  • Maintain effective and efficient operations by reporting for work on a regular, timely, and predictable basis.
  • Meet or exceed reasonable performance standards as set forth by the Sheriff or his designee.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • General knowledge of computer software operations in use in the Division.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with angry, emotional, and excited people.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, fellow workers, and the general public.
  • General knowledge of Illinois State Statutes and Departmental General Orders pertaining to the functions of the Division.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiently type 40-words per minute.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to achieve LEADS certification at the level required for the tasks of the division.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous work within a records division or general office experience is preferred
