Job Responsibilities

The Kent County Health Department is in search of a Clerk II to serve on the Childrens Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) Team.

The Childrens Special Health Care Services Program strives to enable individuals with special health care needs to have improved health outcomes and an enhanced quality of life through the appropriate use of the CSHCS system of care. The clerk will support our team of public health nurses by communicating with enrolled families and potential clients, maintaining records using state and county electronic health record systems, and working closely with providers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, and one year of successful clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Working knowledge of office protocols and procedures
  • Basic computer literacy, including some familiarity with word-processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
  • English usage skills, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Accurate mathematical skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with customers, coworkers, administrators, supervisors, other County staff and members of the public from widely divergent backgrounds

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Associates degree or certificate in business information systems, office management, or other relevant field, and/or several years of clerical work experience.

Additional Information

All Kent County Health Department employees, regardless of position, are required to have their immunization status assessed and vaccinations brought up to date in accordance with the current CDC recommendations for health care professionals, with exceptions only as required by law. Mandatory vaccines include annual influenza vaccination.
