Teacher Special Education

• Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, testing methods, curriculum, Common Core standard, etc.
• Proven methods of maximizing the educational experience of students with special needs.

Qualified applicants must hold or be eligible for Connecticut certification in Special Education.

Other skills:

• Public school experience with students displaying social/emotional/behavioral needs.
• Experience in behavior management, development of and implementation of behavior plans.
• Ability to analyze data.
• Demonstrates proficiency with wide range of programs and technologies.
• Desire to work in a structured and supported classroom.
• Collaborative working style.
• Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
• Effective active listening skills.
• Organizational and problem solving skills.
• Specialized reading instruction skills preferred.
