Job Description:

Scotland Elementary School is located in the quiet Northeast corner of Connecticut, Scotland is a small unique PreK-6 school setting with approximately 90 students and 35 staff members. Supportive administrative team seeks the addition of either:

Choice 1: Part-Time (.6 FTE) 3 days a week Physical Education/Health teacher

OR

Choice 2: A FULL TIME position with another school district (Hampton Elementary prek-6th grades) to complete our school teaching community.

Position: Physical Education/Health Teacher (.6 FTE)

School: Scotland Elementary School or/and Hampton Elementary School

Reports to: Principals

Start Date: August 2026

Compensation: prorated per the union contract

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Plan, create and deliver daily PE and health lesson plans that are rigorous and aligned to state standards, while fostering fun and high level of interest for students.
  • Introduce elements of strength, endurance and flexibility into physical education teaching and activities;
  • Provide multimodal and differentiated instruction using a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and varying needs/interests;
  • Prepare equipment and materials for physical education activities;
  • Observe, assess and communicate student progress (academic, behavioral, social, physical);
  • Ensure individual well-being and safety is incorporated into teaching and activities;
  • Support student physical fitness assessments at the school, state and national levels, as requested;
  • Actively participate in wide variety of school day and extracurricular events as planned, including activities centered around professional development;
  • Responsibly fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Current or eligible Connecticut Teacher Elementary Certification - (044, Physical Education, Pre-K to 12) AND (043, Health, Pre-K to 12)
  • Prior experience working with elementary students a plus but not a requirement
