POSITION: Career Pathways Coordinator
New Milford High School
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Career Pathways Coordinator (CPC) provides leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive career pathways program within the 6-12 framework. This role supports student exploration and selection of career clusters, pathways, and plans of study with integrated academics.
The CPC collaborates across all levels of the organization to promote understanding of Career Pathways programs and is regularly present in middle and high schools to support staff and students in developing college and career readiness skills. Considerable professional judgment is required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Connecticut certification must be grade appropriate
- Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Experience as a mentor
- Professional development leadership experience preferred, particularly in career and technical education
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of public schools and operations; ability to manage multiple initiatives
- Strong project management skills to plan, implement, and monitor pathways
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to train and support staff and manage program development and budgets
- Demonstrated leadership working with students, staff, families, and community members
- Proficiency in technology, including Google applications
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Program
- Lead development and implementation of Career Pathways programming aligned with college and workforce readiness
- Support grades 6-12 career readiness initiatives, including pathways and plans of study
- Assist in developing course sequences leading to industry credentials, certifications, or dual enrollment opportunities
- Serve as liaison to district, community, and state committees
- Collaborate with the CTE Advisory Committee to support program development and Perkins Plan implementation
- Partner with educational, workforce, and business organizations to strengthen pathways
- Work with school counselors to ensure Student Success Plans are developed by grade 8 and aligned to career goals
- Expand work-based learning opportunities such as internships, apprenticeships, and job shadowing
- Coordinate parent communication related to career pathways
- Participate in ongoing professional development
Curriculum & Staff Development
- Collaborate with teachers to enhance curriculum and instruction
- Plan and deliver professional development
- Coordinate senior exhibitions or capstone projects
Program Evaluation & Reporting
- Develop tools to collect and analyze data on student outcomes and program effectiveness
- Report findings and support continuous program improvement
- Assist in securing state and federal funding, including Perkins grant preparation
- Prepare required reports and support compliance monitoring
Additional Responsibilities
- Lead and support pilot programs within grade-level bands
- Attend Curriculum Council and Professional Development Committee meetings
- Perform other related duties as assigned
