Job Description
An employee of Excelsior School of Philadelphia is expected to perform all duties relevant to the delivery of quality child care for children of varying ages. As such employees will be in good health as certified by a physician. Employees must be physically able to perform tasks which include but not limited to lifting, carrying, supporting, and otherwise caring for child-infant through school age.
The teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment which meets the developmental needs of individual children and the group as a whole through working collaboratively with other teachers and administration, program planning, carrying out of the daily schedule, and on-going communication with families.
Duties include but may not be limited to:
• Program planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum, including those with special needs • Maintaining positive communication and interaction with families • Assessing the children • Maintaining records and reports of children (e.g. attendance, assessments, anecdotal records) • Decorate the room with bulletin boards, pictures, and childrens art • Sit with children while they eat • Help keep classroom storage area and bathroom clean and orderly
