Head Start/Head Start Teacher

Head Start Teacher Positions: Winsted and Torrington, CT

Reports to: Head Start: Prenatal to Three Director

Full Time/ Academic Year

Salary Range: $21.50 - $28.50 per hour Commensurate with Degree and Experience

Position is open until filled. Anticipated start date is ASAP.

Job Description: EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to teach preschool children in the Head Start program in Winsted, CT. The qualified candidate will be professional, organized, experienced working with preschool aged children, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a wide variety of creative and developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 3 to 5 that promote school readiness through language, literacy, cognition, social studies, mathematics, science, the arts, social-emotional skills and physical development in a culturally and linguistically rich environment.
  • Develop and maintain on-going relationships with parents as partners in their childs learning process.
  • Conduct developmental screenings, observations, and on-going assessments to inform the development and implementation of monthly goals for each child.
  • Conduct Home Visits and Parent/Teacher Conferences throughout the year to strengthen the home/school coordination of activities for the child. Work with parents to establish and evaluate developmental goals for the child.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to develop effective relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with children, families, and co-workers.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree (preferred) / Associates Degree (accepted) in Early Childhood or in a related field with 12 ECE credits and experience teaching preschool-aged children preferred.
  • Maintain confidentiality about issues related to children and their families.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this job.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position self to bend and lift up to 30lbs.
  • Arrange classroom furniture based on needs of children and curriculum.
