Elementary Reading Teacher
SPLIT LOCATION Position (Henry Barnard School & Edgar H. Parkman School)
Position Overview
The Enfield Public Schools seeks a highly qualified and student-centered Elementary Reading
Teacher who is committed to the district's mission and to providing high-quality, evidence-based
literacy instruction. This position supports students through explicit, systematic reading
instruction aligned with the Connecticut Core Standards, the Science of Reading, and the
district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Primary Responsibilities
Deliver explicit, systematic, and evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with the
Science of Reading, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary,
and comprehension
Provide targeted small-group and/or individualized interventions within the MTSS
framework
Use universal screening, diagnostic assessments, and progress-monitoring data to inform
instruction and adjust interventions
Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, administrators, and support staff
to improve literacy outcomes
Support classroom instruction through push-in and pull-out service models, as
appropriate
Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs), data team meetings, and
professional development
Maintain accurate documentation and communicate student progress effectively with
families
Uphold district policies, professional standards, and CT State Department of Education
requirements
Required Qualifications
Connecticut certification in Reading (102) or Reading Specialist (097)
Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based early literacy instruction and intervention
Experience using student data to drive instructional decision-making
Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
