Position Overview:
We are looking for an energetic, patient, and dedicated General Education Instructional Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work side-by-side with Lead Classroom Teachers to provide academic, behavioral, and organizational support to students within the general education environment.
Your day-to-day will involve reinforcing core lessons, managing classroom dynamics, and providing small-group or individualized attention to ensure all students succeed. Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Support: Reinforce lessons presented by the lead teacher by working with students individually or in small groups to master reading, writing, math, and other core academic concepts.
- Classroom Management: Assist the lead teacher in maintaining a positive, organized, and focused learning environment. Help students stay on task and navigate daily routines.
- Differentiated Learning: Help implement instructional accommodations and adapt classroom materials under the direction of the teacher to support diverse learning styles.
- Student Monitoring: Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, and arrival/dismissal times to ensure safety and positive social interactions.
- Material Preparation: Assist with preparing instructional materials, setting up classroom displays, grading objective assignments, and organizing learning resources.
- Collaboration: Maintain open, professional communication with teachers, staff, and administrators regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom needs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and one of the following: Associate degree or higher, 60 college semester credits, or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
- Clearances: Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background check
- Attributes: Exceptional patience, strong communication skills, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with children.
