TEACHING ASSISTANT

Make a real difference — every single day

Are you passionate about unlocking potential in young people who need it most? We are looking for a warm, resilient and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our close-knit team at The Stables — a specialist independent school nestled in the heart of the Norfolk countryside.

We specialise in supporting children aged 6–14 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, including trauma and attachment. Our small class sizes, bespoke curriculum and deep commitment to every child's wellbeing mean that every member of staff truly matters.

At The Stables, you won't just assist in a classroom — you'll be a trusted attachment figure, a cheerleader for progress, and an active part of a team that transforms lives.

What You'll Do

• Support individual pupils and small groups to access the National Curriculum at KS1 and KS2

• Build warm, trusting relationships that help children feel safe, seen and ready to learn

• Deliver interventions and schemes of work under teacher direction

• Promote independence, resilience and positive self-esteem in every pupil

• Implement agreed behaviour management strategies with consistency and care

• Contribute to a stimulating, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment

• Support the wider life of the school — including outdoor learning and enrichment activities

What We're Looking For

• A TA qualification and GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)

• At least 2 years' experience supporting children in a school setting

• Experience working with children with SEMH/SEND needs

• Knowledge of Norfolk STEPS techniques (desirable)

• A calm, compassionate and patient approach

• A genuine commitment to safeguarding and equal opportunities

What We Offer
Build Your Career
• Fully funded qualifications and clear pathways into Team Leader, Deputy and Registered Manager roles
• Ongoing learning and development through structured programmes and hands-on experience
• Opportunities to step up, take on responsibility, and grow within the organisation

Feel Supported
• 24/7 access to confidential support through our Employee Assistance Programme
• OnDemand GP access
• A strong team culture where people support each other day-to-day

Work That Works for You
• 28 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays), increasing with service
• Celebrate your birthday!
• Wellbeing days to support staff when needed
• Team-based working patterns

Be Part of Something Bigger
• Opportunities to get involved in our international projects, including trips to Tanzania supporting local communities
• A values-led organisation focused on making a genuine difference — not just commercially, but socially

The Essentials
• Pension with NEST
• Access to discounts via Sage Employee Benefits and Blue Light Card
• Employee referral bonus scheme
• Long service recognition awards
• On-site parking (where available)
• Relaxed dress code
