CLASS TEACHER
Inspire. Nurture. Transform.
Do you believe every child deserves a fresh start? We are seeking an exceptional Class Teacher to make a lasting impact at The Stables — a specialist independent school where teaching is genuinely creative, therapeutic and life-changing.
At The Stables Independent School, we work with children aged 6–14 who have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced disruption, exclusion and a fear of learning. We turn those experiences around — through expert, compassionate teaching, small class sizes, and an educational approach that is diverse, thought-provoking, creative, inspirational and soaked in memorable moments.
You will join a school where staff are well trained, highly motivated and truly valued — and where the progress you help a child make is celebrated by the whole team.
What You'll Do
• Deliver creative, bespoke lessons across the National Curriculum at KS1–KS3, personalised to each child's needs
• Create a safe, secure and stimulating classroom where children feel genuinely happy to learn
• Apply your knowledge of trauma-informed practice, attachment theory and SEMH to guide each pupil's progress
• Use assessment data to set realistic, challenging targets and continually refine your teaching
• Lead and support Teaching Assistants with warmth, clarity and professional confidence
• Work in close partnership with the Leadership Team, families, carers and external agencies
• Contribute to an enrichment curriculum including outdoor learning, life skills and unforgettable experiences
What We're Looking For
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree
• A minimum of 2 years' teaching experience, ideally with SEND/SEMH pupils
• Knowledge of phonics, primary curriculum and quality-first teaching strategies
• Experience of or willingness to learn Norfolk STEPS techniques
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and collaboration skills
• A deep commitment to safeguarding, equality and getting the best outcomes for every child
