Position Overview
The Over the Road Driver will safely and efficiently pick up and deliver goods for the company throughout the United States using a semi-truck and trailer. This position will also assist in the unloading of products and maintain logs of working hours.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibility
No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.
Safety
Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment; report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. The individual must follow Safe Lift protocols and all safe driving laws.
Travel
Extensive overnight travel throughout the United States is required. Most drivers average between 1,800 and 2,500 miles per week.

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Preferred Education and Experience
The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Drivers may be asked to operate a tractor/trailer combination for up to 14 consecutive hours per day (11 hours driving, total of 14 hours on duty), in all types of weather, for up to 70 hours in an 8-day period. Days and hours of work include days, evenings, nights and weekends. Extensive travel throughout the United States is required and hours will vary. Drivers depart Sunday or Monday. Upon their return they may be sent back out to the end of the week.

It is an essential job function and safety rule, applicable to every employee working in a safety sensitive classified position, to be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Work Environment
The employee sits while driving an enclosed truck daily. Additional indoor work will include filling out paperwork. Indoor temperatures may not be controlled. While loading and unloading goods, the employee is exposed to climactic variations. Finally, the employee will sleep in a truck sleeper berth during the required 10-hour off duty periods.
