QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g., Law, Healthcare, Insurance, etc.).
  • 5-10 years of experience in medical malpractice claims, preferably with a focus on professional liability and allied healthcare.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical analysis and technical aspects of medical malpractice claims.
  • Proven experience managing all stages of litigated claims from investigation to trial.
  • Ability to develop and execute defense strategies in complex litigation.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for interfacing with defense attorneys and clients.
  • Experience attending depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Knowledge of healthcare services and systems to identify areas for improvement and prevent future claims.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Investigate and conduct clinical analysis of complex and technically challenging medical malpractice claims.
  • Manage all phases of each litigated matter, from pre-litigation investigation through settlement or trial.
  • Develop and implement defense strategies for medical malpractice claims.
  • Attend selected depositions, court hearings, and trials.
  • Interface with defense counsel and clients to assist in business decision-making related to ongoing litigation.
  • Identify opportunities for improving client healthcare services to prevent future adverse events and claims.

Contribute to a team representing high profile clients with defense counsel and department chairpersons to settle medical malpractice claims.
 
• Investigate and complete clinical analysis of complex and technically difficult medical malpractice claims.
 
• Manage all phases of each litigated matter from pre-litigation investigation through to settlement or trial.
 
• Develop and implement defense strategy.
 
• Attend selected depositions, court hearings, and trials.
 
• Interface with defense lawyer and client to enable client to make business decisions in pending litigation.
 
• Identify points for improvement in client health care services to avoid reoccurring adverse events.
