General Summary:

Review submissions from agents, negotiating coverage and premiums, pricing and reviewing a renewal book of business, as well as supporting profitable new business growth while maintaining strong agency relationships. Accounts will include a variety of premium ranges across multiple lines of business and products.

  • Identify more complex and unusual risk and coverage issues and refer them to more senior level underwriters for discussion and guidance.
  • Promptly and accurately review and process various insurance transactions which meet standard underwriting guidelines.
  • Achieving pre-determined performance metrics/targets which supports NJM Commercial Lines in meeting its top-line and bottom line efficiency metrics.
  • Learn rating and underwriting and provide assistance to production and rating personnel.
  • Respond accurately and promptly to basic correspondence and phone inquiries from policyholders, brokers, and internal sources with direction from senior underwriting personnel.
  • Must gain working knowledge of Commercial Lines Underwriting rules and guidelines as incumbents in this role will often work autonomously and make independent decisions.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge, skills & abilities, experience, minimum & desired education, certification and/or license requirements.

  • 2+ years in Property and Casualty
  • Either already in possession or willing to get P&C License in the 6 states in which we write commercial insurance
  • Independent decision-making skills
  • GED Required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.

Pay Range: $61,256-$71,190
