About the role
Lead the planning, design, and field execution of large civil works. Youll oversee construction and maintenance activities on site, ensure conformance to specs and safety standards, and provide technical guidance across surveying, grading, structural, and utilities scopes.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, and geotechnical/topographic data to plan projects.
- Plan/design transportation/hydraulic systems; compute loads, grades, flow rates, and material stresses.
- Inspect sites to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Direct construction operations and maintenance at the project site; lead/participate in surveying to set reference points, grades, and elevations.
- Estimate quantities and costs for materials/equipment/labor; prepare public reports (bids, deeds, EIS, ROW descriptions).
- Test soils/materials (foundations, concrete, asphalt, steel); advise on design changes, structural repairs, and program modifications.
- Study traffic/environmental conditions to identify issues and project impacts.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering.
- 5+ years direct civil engineering experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Demonstrated technical leadership; team building, process improvement, conflict resolution, and motivating field teams.
- Strong communication and organization; proven success working independently and in collaborative site environments.
- Broad technical competence with modern tools/systems.
Work conditions
- Location varies by project with 90% travel to job sites.
