Here's the Role:

As an Engineer at the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), you will lead the land development of electrical substation sites that provide safe, efficient electricity across Texas. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a team dedicated to improving Texans' quality of life through water stewardship, energy, and community service. Your inventive civil work, especially resilient flood mitigation drainage facilities, will ensure Texas residents have reliable energy utility infrastructures for years to come! 

 

How You’ll Contribute:
  • Perform hydrological and hydraulic analysis for 138kV, 345kV, and 765kV substations, determining drainage facilities to manage onsite runoffs during storm events. 
  • Assist the site development permitting process with local jurisdictions to ensure alignment and successful implementation. 
  • Perform project scoping engineering analysis and coordinate with stakeholders to develop scope with estimates to be presented to senior management.
  • Independently plan and conduct engineering projects, evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard techniques and procedures. 
  • Manage detailed engineering stages as components of major projects or entire projects of moderate scope. 
  • Direct moderately complex engineering studies, including field analysis, performance tests, builds, cost estimates, and data compilation. 
How You’re Qualified:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
  • Driver's license
How You’ll Stand Out:
  • Demonstrated strong capability in site engineering, infrastructure, drainage development, and permitting. 
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Civil 3D. 
  • Experience in independently carrying out engineering projects and managing detailed engineering phases. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, codes, and site development build requirements of local municipalities. 
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D Storm and Sanitary Analysis, HydroCAD, or Hydraulic 2D modeling.
