We are seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys in managing complex civil litigation matters from case inception through trial and resolution. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. The Civil Litigation Paralegal will assist with case management, discovery, trial preparation, legal document drafting, and client communication.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys in all phases of civil litigation, including pre-litigation, discovery, trial, and post-trial proceedings.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and settlement documents.
  • Manage case files and maintain litigation calendars, ensuring compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
  • Conduct factual investigations and legal research.
  • Review, organize, summarize, and analyze medical records, business records, contracts, and other evidentiary materials.
  • Coordinate and manage the discovery process, including document production, electronic discovery (e-discovery), and document review.
  • Prepare deposition notices, summaries, exhibits, and witness files.
  • Assist in preparing attorneys for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, investigators, and third-party vendors.
  • File legal documents through electronic court filing systems and monitor court dockets.
  • Prepare trial notebooks, exhibit binders, witness lists, and trial exhibits.
  • Track litigation costs, invoices, and case-related expenses.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with ethical and legal requirements.
 
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
  • 3+ years of civil litigation paralegal experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting attorneys in state and federal court litigation.
  • Experience with discovery management and trial preparation.
  • Familiarity with electronic filing systems and case management software.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures, court rules, and legal terminology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet critical deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with legal research platforms such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and document management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Paralegal certification (CP, ACP, RP, or equivalent).
  • Experience in commercial litigation, employment litigation, insurance defense, construction litigation, or other civil practice areas.
  • Trial and courtroom support experience.
  • Experience with billing software and time entry systems.
 
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary: $50,000-$60,000
