IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Graduate Designer in Missoula, MT, to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants in delivering engineering solutions and advice that support positive client outcomes. In this role, you'll assist with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and site drainage and grading design while continuing to learn the civil engineering trade. You'll also work within project budgets and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.Principal ResponsibilitiesPrepare designs for water and sewer systems for smaller private and larger municipal systemsDevelop grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plansSupport surface modeling, watershed modeling, storm sewer design, and sanitary sewer design workInteract with clients to gather project requirements and communicate technical information effectivelyBuild and maintain client relationships through professional communicationWork as part of a project team to support consulting project execution, planning, budgeting, and schedulingDocument design decisions, client instructions, and project progressAnalyze low to moderate‑complexity engineering tasks and help develop practical, efficient solutions with senior engineers and consultantsParticipate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirementsStay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, safety expectations, and applicable state and local design criteria while collaborating with multidisciplinary teamsRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required1 year of experience minimum in the building design consulting industry requiredEngineer in Training (EIT) license preferredProficient skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possibleDeveloping proficiency of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem‑solving skillsEagerness to learn and adapt to new challengeAbility to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join UsIMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work‑life balance, and meaningful impact.
