    Job TitleCivil Engineer - Site/Civil FocusedGroupWSOCertification/License RequirementsProfessional EngineerEmployment TypeRegularLocationFlorida - OrlandoMain ResponsibilitiesWith high-level goals provided, create and sign off on basic to highly complex engineering designs involving site layout development, site grading and drainage, hydraulics and hydrology calculations, water distribution systems, collection systems, storage tanks and impoundments, foundation designs, stormwater infrastructure and treatment, and occasionally single-story structures.Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations; ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs; perform site reviews and studies as needed; update design requirements as necessary.Contribute to firm's Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.; submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposals (RFPs); review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices.Meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs; attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentor and develop them for future growth; may supervise junior engineers on project work.Perform other duties as required.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license.7 years of related experience.Domestic and/or international travel may be required.Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.Skills and AbilitiesExpert knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).Excellent verbal and written communications skills.Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.EEO StatementCDM Smith is an Equal Opportunity / Affimative Action employer.
