    Denver Regional Civil Engineering Lead

    Position Description

    The Regional Civil Engineering Lead is an on-site role based in our Denver, CO office, with hybrid flexibility. This person leads and grows our Denver civil engineering practice while carrying their own portfolio of land development, municipal infrastructure, and transportation engineering projects.

    What does this role involve day to day? Time is split across four areas: pursuing and developing new business in the Denver market, overseeing the team's project portfolio for quality and delivery, managing the person's own set of civil engineering projects, and leading, mentoring, and growing a team of EITs and PEs. What will this person build? A regional civil engineering practice that combines strong technical delivery with an expanding local client base, working in AutoCAD Civil 3D alongside modeling and GIS tools day to day. What does success look like in year one? A civil engineering team that is growing in size and capability, a healthy pipeline of new and repeat work, and a book of active projects delivered on schedule and on budget.

    This role reports to the Director of Civil Engineering and works closely with firmwide engineering leadership to expand Cushing Terrell's presence across the region.

    Position Salary Range*

    The expected salary range for this position is $105,000 to $140,000 annually.

    Required Qualifications**

    • ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree
    • 10+ years of civil engineering experience
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state where Cushing Terrell is hiring
    • Current license with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES)
    • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for building and leading regional engineering teams
    • Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary design groups
    • Highly skilled in project and program management
    • Proven experience in land development, transportation engineering, and municipal civil engineering
    • Established local and regional business development network with seller-doer experience
    • Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Proficiency with WaterCAD or equivalent modeling tools, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, ArcGIS, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office, including Teams
    • Strong technical writing and communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications**

    • Prior experience leading proposal efforts or major project interviews
    • Established relationships with Denver-area municipal or land development clients

    Position Responsibilities***

    • Lead, mentor, and grow a regional civil engineering team of EITs and PEs, supporting their professional development and continuing education
    • Manage a personal portfolio of civil engineering projects from proposal through delivery, including fee proposals, schedules, budgets, and field reports
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, negotiating and executing client and project contracts to expand the Denver market
    • Provide oversight and quality control for project plans, calculations, reports, and specifications
    • Apply expert knowledge of codes, permitting, and jurisdictional processes across land development, municipal, and transportation projects
    • Develop project budgets, cost estimates, and staffing plans, and lead interviews for major pursuits
    • Build and strengthen client relationships and internal leadership partnerships

    *Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate's years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors, as permitted by law. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
