    Civil Engineer/Project Manager - Public Works

    Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer/Project Manager for our Dallas office with at least 8-10 years' experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. This Project Manager position should have experience in the management and design of a wide range of public works projects. Duties include but not limited to, initial project research, plan production and management of plan production staff, plan processing and management of plan processing efforts, construction administration and project close out efforts.

    Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)

    Duties:

    • Function as a Lead Civil Engineer.
    • Prepare preliminary engineering reports.
    • Research jurisdictional requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings.
    • Prepare of proposal/contract and of project work plans and schedule.
    • Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities.
    • Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work.
    • Prepare GIS exhibits using ArcGIS.
    • Conduct site visits and documents findings.
    • Work directly with clients and directing a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise.
    • Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence.
    • Writes or prepares graphic materials for presentations or documents.
    • Lead a team of engineers and drafters.
    • Initiate and lead kickoff calls or high-level design calls with client in addition to preparing monthly forecasting and client cost estimates when appropriate.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
    • Must be a licensed PE in Texas with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience.
    • Experience with producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports.
    • Ability to work independently in a team environment and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision.
    • Must be able to work directly with clients and directing a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely.
    • Ability to train staff and review work for quality assurance.
    • Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems.
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD, and Civil3D are preferred, Knowledge of MicroStation is a plus.
    • Highly organized and detail oriented.
    • Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented.
    • Consistently deliver proactive communication with clients. When client issues arise, address or expeditiously escalate to discipline lead.
    • Develop relationships with clients that allows for ease in communications and problem solving.
    • Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, effectively implement and document for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to make presentations.

    Project Manager (PM) Role Annual Performance Goals & Expectations:

    • Having a deep understanding of how your work and contributions as a co-owner add to Huitt-Zollars' mission and core values.
    • Maintaining expected Effective Labor Multiplier (ELM) on sum of all associated projects.
    • Consistently upholds business processes including timely monthly A/R's, invoicing, timekeeping, resource forecasting, percent completes, etc.
    • Achieves personal sales goal.
    • Achieves stated target personal utilization goal for PM.
    • Understands, follows and ensures quality control measures and risk management measures are being applied and adhered to projects and daily operations.

    This position will office out of our Dallas, TX location in a 'Class A' office space including a state-of-the-art gym (no cost), covered parking, food court, and more.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
    • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
