Civil Engineer, Data Center Design

An in-house civil engineering lead responsible for the full civil workstream across a multi-site, multi-state NeoCloud development portfolio. The role spans early-stage site screening through design, permitting, and construction completion for large-scale greenfield and conversion data center campuses.Core ResponsibilitiesDue Diligence & Site Evaluation — Leading civil assessments covering topography, drainage, soils, floodplain, utilities, and environmental constraints. Directing geotechnical investigations and flagging cost and schedule risk during site selection.Design Ownership — Developing civil standards, master specifications, and basis of design documents. Managing external civil consultants from schematic through IFC. Establishing grading strategies, earthwork balance, and phased early-work packages to protect the critical path.Permitting & Regulatory — Leading permitting strategy across jurisdictions including NPDES/SWPPP, floodplain (CLOMR/LOMR), land disturbance, and environmental permits. Managing regulatory risks including wetlands, karst, and expansive soils.Construction Support — Reviewing submittals and RFIs, conducting site visits, managing change orders, and overseeing civil closeout and as-builts.Key RequirementsB.S.
