This practice includes telephone calls, conferences, correspondence, investigation, research, pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, trial and appeal.Develops litigation strategies, skills and case evaluations in conjunction with alldepartmental attorneys; Attends court sessions as required, for all cases assigned.Coordinates administrative duties such as reporting of claims and submission ofattorney billable hours.Reviews and revises attorney work products; Manages case flow while meetingdeadlines.Provides legal advice to county officials and department heads and responds torequests from the public.Reviews and drafts contracts (Rule 11 Agreements, Purchase/sale agreements, land acquisition, easement acquisition, side agreements, appraiser agreements, expert witness agreements, engineering agreements, maintenance contracts, lease agreements).Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:Doctor of Jurisprudence; Licensed by the Texas Bar.4 years job related experience required. Experience in real estate transactions and litigation and/or condemnation is highly desirable.Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with thepublic, other employees and elected officials.Admission to the Southern District of Texas and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals desirable.STARTING SALARY RANGE : $49.78 - $62.23 hourly based on qualificationsCLOSING DATE : Upon filling position All full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
