Job Summary
We are seeking a Civil Associate Engineering Technician - Solar to support engineering and design teams in developing high-quality technical deliverables for complex solar infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for preparing and modifying site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts using industry-standard design software while applying civil engineering principles to deliver accurate and efficient project solutions.
Job Description
- Support engineering teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables under close supervision
- Prepare and modify site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts using Autodesk Civil 3D, PVcase, and PV Farm
- Apply engineering principles and established design practices to support civil engineering design activities
- Utilize CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling software to create, update, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
- Perform basic engineering calculations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
- Coordinate project deliverables with other engineering disciplines to minimize errors and design conflicts
- Apply quality standards, document control practices, and applicable engineering codes to project deliverables
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by utilizing new technologies and engineering processes
- Assist in meeting internal and external project requirements while maintaining accuracy and quality
- Begin providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians
Skills Required
- Minimum of 2 years of related civil engineering technician experience
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
- Experience with Civil 3D grading
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D
- Experience using CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling software
- Knowledge of civil engineering design principles, drafting standards, and engineering documentation
- Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and material quantity estimates
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Solar project experience preferred
- Experience with PVcase and PV Farm software preferred
Education/Training/Certifications
- Diploma or Certificate required.
- Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or a related field preferred.
