Five to seven years of experience in municipal law within the State of TexasLicense to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of TexasJuris Doctorate degree from a recognized law schoolMaintains current knowledge of legislative changes, court decisions, and emerging trends in municipal and administrative lawPerforms other duties as may be assignedAdvises on public works, employment law, open records and ethics complianceDrafts, reviews, and approves ordinances, resolutions, contracts, agreements, and policiesProvide training to elected officials and staff on legal topics affecting municipal operationsRepresents the city in civil litigations, administrative hearings, and negotiations, manage and coordinate outside legal counsel when necessaryEnsure compliance with the Texas Open Meeting Act, public Information act, and other relevant statues and regulationsAttending and advice during City Council meetings, and other official proceedingsProvides legal advice and counsel to the Mayor, City Council, City Secretary, department directors on all matters related to the official duties, compliance and city affairs#J-18808-Ljbffr
