Description
The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a CIP Inspector. This position plays a key role in supporting the Towns infrastructure projects, including roads, utilities, parks, and public facilities. Depending on qualifications and experience, the role may be filled at either the Inspector or Senior Inspector level. CIP Inspector: Salary ($62,090.60 - $74,966.58)
JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Incumbents perform inspections of multiple construction projects as a part of the Towns Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Department. Duties include: Performing site/field inspections for capital improvement projects, record keeping, review plans and specifications for CIP projects; and assist project management teams in preparing reports, budgets, project close-outs and final reports.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a fully qualified level construction inspection classification in the construction management job family where tasks and assignments are performed using a variety of procedures and techniques. This is the experienced/journey level that is fully competent in the technical/functional aspects of assigned role. Work usually involves the application of sound technical principles and best practices associated with planning, diagnosis, troubleshooting and problem solving. Incumbents perform varied assignments requiring journey level knowledge in assigned area of responsibility.
A CIP Inspector is distinguished from a CIP Senior Inspector by the complexity and scale of the construction projects that are assigned and by the number of years of experience needed in order to successfully perform assigned construction and engineering inspections.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (at job entry)
Education and Experience
Associates Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field and two years of experience performing a variety of construction and engineering inspection; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class D Arizona Drivers License;
Preferred: The American Public Works Association (APWA) CPII certification.
Preferred: The American Concrete Institute (ACI) Grade IA certification.
Preferred: International Code Council (ICC) Certification (Commercial Combination).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position has been identified as a safety-sensitive position by Human Resources, per State and/or Federal Law. Upon conditional offer of employment, the candidate selected will be required to undergo testing for alcohol and controlled substances within twenty-four (24) hours of the offer.
